Virtual Mental Health Therapist | Set Apart Counseling |  Michigan

Michigan Virtual Therapist Specializing in Trauma, Substance Use, and Recovery

Savanna Weber is a licensed therapist with Set Apart Counseling, providing virtual therapy to individuals, teens, couples, and veterans throughout Michigan. With more than ten years of experience in healthcare and more than eight years in behavioral health, she brings serious clinical grounding to the concerns that often go hardest to find help for — trauma, addiction recovery, chronic illness, emotional dysregulation, and major life transitions.

Savanna holds a Master of Social Work from Capella University and is certified as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor through MCBAP, Michigan's certification body for addiction professionals. She practices under the clinical supervision of Lynda Ross, LMSW, owner of Set Apart Counseling.

Her work is practical and collaborative. She works with clients who are carrying real weight, whether that is unprocessed trauma, a difficult recovery, a health diagnosis that has changed everything, or a life that no longer looks the way it was supposed to. Her goal is to offer a grounded space where clients can work through what is hard and build toward something more stable.

Areas of Focus

Explore our range of services designed to help you move forward with confidence, wherever you're headed next.

  • Savanna uses evidence-based approaches, including Written Exposure Therapy (WET) and trauma-focused care, to help clients process difficult experiences at a manageable pace.

  • Savanna is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, a structured, evidence-based approach that helps clients build skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is particularly helpful for clients whose emotions feel intense or difficult to manage.

  • Living with a chronic condition affects more than physical health. Savanna works with clients to develop coping strategies, process grief and loss related to health changes, and maintain quality of life despite ongoing challenges.

  • Savanna has specific experience supporting veterans and those navigating military-to-civilian transitions, including the unique stressors that come with service, identity shifts, and reintegration.

  • Major changes, expected or not, can leave people feeling unmoored. Savanna helps clients navigate divorce, job loss, grief, parenting challenges, relocation, relationship changes, and other significant transitions.

  • Savanna works with preteens and teenagers facing anxiety, behavioral concerns, school stress, and other challenges common during adolescent development.

  • Savanna supports couples working to improve communication, reduce conflict patterns, and reconnect. She draws from the Gottman Method and other evidence-based approaches to support healthier relationship dynamics.

Court-Ordered Counseling

Savanna works with some clients who need counseling as part of a court order, probation requirement, or court-monitored program. The type of counseling required, the documentation needed, and whether telehealth is acceptable can all vary depending on the court, agency, or program involved.

Because requirements differ, clients are strongly encouraged to confirm what is expected before beginning services. This includes clarifying what type of counseling satisfies the requirement, what documentation or attendance verification is needed, and whether virtual therapy is permitted. Set Apart Counseling can help determine whether Savanna's services may be an appropriate fit for a specific situation, but cannot guarantee that any particular court, probation program, or referring agency will accept the services provided.

How Savanna Approaches Therapy

Savanna's approach is collaborative and practical. She adapts her methods based on each client's needs, goals, and how they process things best, rather than applying the same approach to every situation.

She draws from a range of evidence-based methods, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Reframing

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Written Exposure Therapy (WET)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Person-Centered and Humanistic frameworks

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Trauma-Focused approaches

  • Gottman Method (couples)

The relationship between therapist and client matters in this work. Savanna aims to build a connection that is genuine, consistent, and grounded in what the client is actually working toward.

Why Savanna Chose Counseling

Savanna spent more than a decade in healthcare before focusing her work on behavioral health and mental wellness. What she kept seeing across different settings was how much unaddressed trauma, untreated addiction, and emotional exhaustion were affecting people's ability to function and recover. That observation shaped the direction of her clinical training. She pursued licensure in social work and addiction counseling because she wanted to work with people on the issues that were often hardest to talk about and most likely to be overlooked. That is still what drives her work today.

What to Expect in Your First Session

The first session with Savanna is focused on getting to know you. She will ask about your current concerns, relevant history, and what you are hoping to get out of the process. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Savanna works at a pace that is manageable, not rushed. For clients navigating trauma or substance use, the early sessions are about building a foundation of trust and understanding before moving into deeper clinical work. For court-ordered clients, the first session is also a good time to discuss documentation requirements, attendance verification, and what the process will look like.

Most clients leave the first session with a clearer sense of where they are starting and what working together will look like. When you are ready to take that step, Set Apart Counseling is a straightforward place to start.

Virtual Therapy Across Michigan

Savanna currently provides virtual therapy only, through secure video or phone sessions. Because her practice is fully online, she is able to work with clients from anywhere in Michigan, including those in Detroit Metro, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Battle Creek, Flint, Port Huron, Ann Arbor, and communities throughout the state.

Virtual therapy makes consistent care more accessible, particularly for clients managing chronic illness, transportation barriers, demanding work schedules, or geographic distance from in-person providers.
